Yosemite National Park is in the Sierra Nevada mountains,
approximately 185 miles / 300 kilometers (4 hours driving) east of San
Francisco and 360 miles / 580 kilometers (6 hours driving) north of Los
Angeles. The closest town is Mariposa on CA 140, 30 miles / 48 kilometers
west of Yosemite Valley.
From November through May, the Tioga Road (which crosses the
Sierra Nevada between US 395 and CA 120), is usually closed due to
